Color Theory Redux
How many of us know that mixing red and blue paints doesn't really make purple, contrary to well-meaning color wheels in our classrooms? Why has the printing world happily embraced CMYK (Cyan Magenta Yellow Black) as its basic mixing pigments while art rooms have persisted with Red/Yellow/Blue? How can we understand the physical characteristics of paints and the role our own biology plays in order to mix colors as vibrantly or earthily as we wish? Join Gala Bent, a drawing painter and accidental illustrator, as she shares her own discoveries of color theory and leads hands-on mixing experiments in gouache.
